Love & Marriage - Real Journeys -- MSNBC - Sunday, February 12, 2006 - 7:00 p.m. (EST)
So what's three hours when you're dealing with something as important as love? While this MSNBC documentary is called Love & Marriage, that's not necessarily traditional marriage. The filmmaker follows four couples for a year to see how they react to all the joys and challenges of their lives, and one of the four couples is gay. This was likely a therapeutic project for Fredric Golding, who made this mara-doc. He made it not long after his own marriage ended.

Why do people totally miss the concequences of thier decisions? Most were surley smart enough to figure out the probability and communicate.
I would love to know what happen to the couple that got divorced. It seemed he did not want to get divorced. So sad. I'm a sucker for a happy ending and would love to hear that they worked it out.
I thought it was a great show. The wife of the couple that got divorced was dealt her pain throughout the marriage. The husband was devastated after the divorce but I do not think that he had a clue as to the amount of pain that he caused his wife during the marriage. I think she looked at him and probably did not know that he was capable of that great depth of feeling, but it was a little too late. Once women cross that threshold, it is hard to get the feeling back. The gay couple was the most enlightened and the best adjuster, my hat is off to them.
It was a very well done documentary- social commentary on the instititiuon of marriage. Thank you for all your hard work, Mr. Golding. What happened to the divorced couple? Also there were too many commercial.
My husband and I liked the gay couple best--they seemed the most fun and reasonable of the bunch. My only question, and I'll ask it here since I can't find any way to write the narrator, is why did he only follow couples with children. I wondered if that was because he too had children. But I think it would have been nice to get couples' perspective on marriage that don't have children too since I think that children, however wonderful, do add a type of stress to a relationship.
It was the best thing I've seen on tv in a long long time. It's interesting to see how different people view marriage/partnerships,parenting resposibilities.I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to get a copy(tape) of the show if anyone knows how please post a comment...
