The BTK Killer Speaks -- A&E - Monday, July 18 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday, July 19 - 12 midnight (EDT)

Just what is it that makes us so fascinated with the monsters among us? A morbid curiosity with the unthinkable...or maybe a desperate need to understand that which can't, or shouldn't, BE understood? Whatever motivates us, we have an unfortunate abundance of material these days to study. And who better to guide us through one of the latest serial killer arrests and the event leading up to it than the King of True Crime TV Reporting, Bill Kurtis?

For those who have been lost in their Happy Place lately, BTK stands for bind, torture, kill -- the gruesome modus operandi of a vicious killer of innocents in Wichita, Kansas, who began his spree in 1974 with the murders of four members in one family. A series of correspondence to the media from church-going father and former cub scout leader Dennis Rader led to his arrest.

This special report promises to "...reveal insights into what drove Rader to become a killer, and how he evaded capture for so many years." Probably worth watching, even if we are forgiven for not wanting to really understand why.
