Bob Woodruff Update

All pictures courtesy ABC NewsThese pictures are the first of ABC anchor Bob Woodruff to be widely distributed after his life-threatening injuries while covering the war in Iraq. A recent comment bemoaned the fact that, while we spend lots of time discussing the Katie Couric job change, we aren't hearing much from ABC (or elsewhere) about Woodruff's condition. Much of that, of course, may be out of deference to his family, but it is true that we tend to move from story du jour to story du jour, without much follow-up on issues of importance.
It's still far too early to know how long Woodruff's recuperation will last, or how he will assume former duties he and his fans treasured. Still, it is reassuring to see photos like these that show us Bob still has that winning smile and is beating the odds. All of us who are pulling for him hope for more positive follow-up reports in the coming months.

Myself, as a fan of Bob's would like to know more about his condition than how he looks in pictures.
Is there damage that would prevent him from returning to full time reporting?
As you mentioned, ABC doesn't give much information out about their 'clan' of reporters.
I'm sure that most are like me and hope only the best for Bob and are interested in his recovery.
just missing Bob a lot on the TV and wondering how he is. He looks good in these pictures, so that is hopeful. I know it is private info because he was badly injured, but we viewers do "fall in love" with our news anchors. I have been praying all along.
I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS SIGHT I OFTEN WONDER ABOUT BOB AND WISH ABC WOULD KEEP US UPDATED. WE WILL KEEP PRAYING FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY
Will Bob Woodruff be returning as a news reporter?? I think he did a great job and hope he will be well enough soon to return. Why aren't given updates on his condition?
I am glad that I took the time to find information concerning Bob Woodruff. Sometimes news agencies are unaware that their audience does care about the people that deliver the news. Bob's injury is old news but his progress is new and positive. Wake up ABC news. Thank you for your coverage.
I AM GLADD TO SEE THE PICTURES OF BOB WOODRUFF. I HAVE WONDERED ABOUT HIM. HE IS NOT ONLY A GREAT ANCHORMAN BUT HE IS SOOOO HANDSOME, ESPECIALLY HIS EYES AND SMMILE. I PRAY FOR HIS FULL RECOVERY AND PRAY FOR HIS FAMILY ALSO. DOLL COCHRAN
I'm been thinking about Bob so much and miss seeing his handsome face on ABC news. He is articulate, intelligent and brave. I was wondering why they never mention how he is doing but I'm sure he wanted his privacy. I just saw a short article in the new People magazine and he looks absolutely fabulous!!! Way to go Bob - your tenancity to get back to your old self paid off. I hope you are once again the news anchor for ABC..God Bless You and your family. A devoted fan in Austin, TX!
I was glad to find this site and take the time to look for info on Bob Woodruff's condition. I have been very disappointed in ABC for not keeping watchers apprised of his current condition. They don't have to give out personal information, just how he's doing. Glad to see that he is recovering with his family and hope all goes well for him.
Glad I found this site and took the time to learn more about Bob Woodruff's current condition. I've been upset with ABC for not keeping viewers up to date on Bob's current condition. They don't have to provide personal information. Just tell us how's he's doing once in a while. I'm glad to see him recovering with his family, and wish him and his family well.
I'm so happy to find information on Mr Woodruff. We do care about him and his family and pray for them. I can't wait to see him back on the news with his own brand of intelligence and viewpoint.

It is nice to see that Bob is recovering as good as possible. The sad thing is that people injured in the war like Bob tend to be forgotten. The world needs to see that these people are heroes and not forgotten. It should be brought out that these wounded soldiers are there and need our care. We all know that eventually they will end up in the overcrowded care of the VA. That should not be allowed to happen. I hope that Bob will spearhead a drive to make sure that will not Happen
I'm here on the Oregon coast with friends and my son and we started talking about Bob and wondered how he is doing now -- in 2007. We hope he is improving every day and that he will once again be reporting the news in his unique, down-home, friendly manner.
We wish him our best.

Let's hear more about Bob Woodruff. I don't care about the ratings game. This is real news.
I am quite4 thrilled to finally get an update on Bob. Keep up the good work & God will take care of you.
My thoughts and prayers are with Bob and Lee and their lovely children. My father James Warren sustained a traumatic brain injury on March 3, 1998. Our life has been very difficult, however we feel blessed to know that we have hope for a future for my father. After all these years my father has begun to read for small periods. Reading was his favorite pastime before the accident and now that has returned. We have hope. Bob and his family will be fine because of their love and I will pray for them daily. There is hope and Bob Woodruff is such an idicator of that hope.
Here it so many months later & I just watched him on Oprah! How exciting to see his recovery going so well! My comment on your blog here is how the media does hop, skip and jump from one Very Important Story to another ... in an almost ADD fashion! It would be far more "fair & balanced" if, instead, the media would cover stories more in-depth ... somehow in just splashing the more grisly details across our TVs and newspapers, the media is causing more Americans to feel not only powerless to effect positive change in the world (because there is seemingly "too much bad to confront"), but also that an increasing number of our fellow earth citizens are horrible people! This last is esp concerning because it feeds into the paranoid, cult-like mindset of so many churches and the Repub party ... which could be why so many Americans have acted so stupidly regarding Iraq & the subsequent war there.
The Letterman interview was both entertaining and educational. It would have meant more to viewers if Bob had given God the credit and glory for his miraculous recovery. A wonderful opportunity to witness has gone by.
Bob and Lee did Charlie Rose a few nights ago. Incredibly, Bob fumbled for a word two or three times only and the looks he gives Lee are so openly grateful, full of love and compassion and thankfulness for her loyalty and dedication to him and their family. I aspire to be like her.
